Ward, Charles Dexter Ward

In 1927 HP Lovecraft ( August 20, 1890 - March 15, 1937 ) would write a story entitled: The Case of Charles Dexter Ward . In 1963 this story would be made into a film, being directed by Roger Corman and several years later, in 1992 , Dan O'Bannon ( September 30, 1946 - 17 December 2009 ) direct a new version more faithful to the story of writer Providence.

John March (John Terry ) makes his living as a private detective, one day you come to see a beautiful woman who needs your services, your new client is called Claire Ward ( Jane Sibbett) and want to know what is happening with her husband, who was not seen for a while and he's involved in a rather peculiar experiments. Although at first March not quite convinced to accept the job, goes to the house where Charles Dexter Ward ( Chris Sarandon) and as research progresses will discover that the husband of Claire seems to be thinking he was possessed by an old relative, and not only that, Charles Dexter Ward is conducting foreign EXPERIENCED related to the world of the occult. Can John March discover that he's involved Charles ? Claire, can I get her husband from the clutches of the occult and be happy again?

since I was little Dan O'Bannon grew to be a fan of horror and science fiction in college was that he met John Carpenter and together they collaborated in 1970 in short: Dark Star , then, in 1974 , Carpenter was commissioned to extend and convert into a movie, at a cost of U $ S 60,000 ; in that movie O'B Annon did the work: writer, editor and actor. In turn, O'Bannon also work in the production of Star Wars in the technical area, but I'd give it as more interested in the script, below would get into the project failed Jodorowsky : Dune , the posting should qu e O'Bannon ended penniless and stay on the street. Over time and with Ronald Shusett, wrote the script : Alien . In the eighties, was put in the draft Heavy Metal, for 1985, O'Bannon write the script of Lifeforce , also that year, O'Bannon assume responsibility for leading, or Return f the Living Dead . To 1990 , D an O'Bannon, again with Shusett, would write the script for Total Recall, in 1992 would lead: The Resurrected , in 1995 , would receive a credit as co-writer for the film: Screamers.
As previously they had shown with his brilliant film: Return of the Living Dead in this film again O'Bannon shows their good work in directing the terror; manages to keep pace with the tension and attention. With great skill trasnscribe the world of Lovecraft in faithfully recreating images. Nothing is missing, well yes, to feel the terrible smell, thankfully, getting that, then are: the house, the madness, this underworld underworld populated by books of the occult and nightmarish beings product of a terrible experiments little saints the beating death, nightmares, that distant relative who turns death turns all O'Bannon concisely, both aesthetically oppressive and a truly masterful final. A direct cinematic tribute video quite entertaining, and which already know: " Death used to be the end but now is just the beginning .
Turning to the technical items in the music department is the name of Richard Band ( December 28, 1953 ) your job here is correct, helping to plot a passages to create good weather.
On the side effects, they are of high quality in a low-budget work such as this, the special effects team really stood out.
In the artistic category we have to John Terry ( January 25, 1950 : There Goes the Bride, 1980, directed by Terry Marcel; H awk, the Slayer, 1980, directed by Terry Marcel, Full Metal Jacket, 1987 directed by Stanley Kubrick, The Living Daylights, 1987, directed by John Glen, Of Mice and Men, 1992, di Sini rigida by gary is, Zodiac, 2007, directed by David Fincher ) here as detective work private muindo is shrouded in the occult is quite sober, meets its goal, then we have to actress Jane Sibbett , that mostly always moved in TV ( 28 November 1962 : Promises to Keep, 1985; My Two Dads, 1988, Cheers, 1988; 21 Jump Street, 1989, Fear, 1990, directed by Rockne S. O'Bannon, Jake and the Fatman, 1990, Quantum Leap, 1991 , The Adventures of Brisco County Jr., 1994, Matlock, 1 995; The Second Arrival, 1998, directed by Kevin Tenney, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, 2001 ) by the end we leave it to someone who's been paddling for a while and that this linked with more than a movie the fantastic, including the magnificent: Fright Night , 1985, directed by Tom Holland , so is the lord Chris Sarandon (24 July 1942); if there is something that Chris Sarandon comes out of wonders is the interpretation of evil or weird characters, and here he does it again with this ambiguous character, who is traumatized Charles Dexter Ward, no doubt a great job by this actor, then some of the movies in which you can see Chris Sarandon :

World Wide Mystery, 1973 ( tv series), Dog Day Afternoon, 1975, directed by Sidney Lumet, The Sentinel, 1977, directed by Michael Winner, A Tale of Two Cities, 1980, directed by Jim Goddard, Frankenstein, 1987, directed by Burt Brinckerhoff; Child's Paly, 1988, directed by Tom Holland; Whispers, 1990, directed by Douglas round Jackson, The Night Before Christmas, 1993, directed by Henry Selick; St ar Trek: Deep Space Nine: Rivals, 1994; Dark T ide 1994, directed by Luca Bercovici; The Outer Limits: Corner of the Eye, 1995, When the Dark Man Calls, 1995, directed by Nathaniel Gutman, The Vampyre Wars 1996, directed by Hugh Parks, Bordello of Blood, 19 96, directed by Gilbert Adler, Perversions of Science: Panic, 1997; Charmed: Necromancing the Stone, 2003 )
