Blackheads One Side Of Face

Tribute to Babel

During my personally unfair Academy Awards this year (although it also had already been given from many of the nominations), I'd do a little tribute to Babel for his undeserved lack of recognition awards.

In my opinion should be excluded from these awards remake or replica of any other work whatever. And in the case of The Departed (The Departed, 2006) is always easier to work on the details that allow you to upgrade a previous job to start with an original work zero.

Personally, I felt cheated when the day after seeing The Departed I found the Hong Kong Siu Fai Mak, from which Scorsese was imitated not only history but also how to run most of the planes. Although probably most Academy members will have spent no effort in seeing the original film to discover the live storyboard director's film of Queens.

why, and try to do some justice to Babel (which despite what you read in the following lines seems to be far from the movie of the year) here's a review written with enough love:

If life is more tragedy than comedy, Alejandro González Iñárritu has achieved with his third film, Babel, Greek tales that seem to us mere anecdotes compared with the human drama that communicates Mexican director with this film that no one can remain indifferent .

Babel, with an original screenplay by Guillermo Arriaga, who also Amores Perros and 21 Grams, claims its title, one of the most famous passages. And it does not only by name, but recreating history in the same concept: a meeting between the men over the diversity of languages.

Bab-el, was the name of the city that would be " gate of God "of the peoples of Mesopotamia, but the term took on the meaning of" confusion "(balai) to the Hebrews, when God punished the ambition of men trying to get Babel, dividing by the appearance of different languages.

With his film, González Iñárritu is precisely what he intends to show the confusion of misunderstanding between different languages \u200b\u200band cultures, to go to understanding emotions and basic needs of all human beings. For what is most elemental in man the need to love and be loved?

Babel is not just about four different stories intertwined, Babel tells us something in his ear to all and sundry. And we are told in every language that is so visual and human though he was not bent or has subtitles also would understand each and every one of the characters.

Babel may be the story with the more optimistic end of the short but impressive track record of work González Iñárritu, as in all his previous works is latent dedication to show the characters struggle to survive and find their place in this world. Some have to die on the road for the rest understand that the life they had was looking and sometimes the selfishness and pride are to blame away from the happiness that we only discover thanks to the crisis.

And is that both Gonzalez Inarritu and Arriaga are experts in lead to extreme situations of everyday life to reveal the goodness or badness of human beings are capable.

Only in Babel all the more cause for hope, there is only one character is redeemed, as we had used in his other works, but all are somehow purified and brought to understand even better the meaning of its existence, after passing the great test to which they are subjected.

This is one of those films to be appreciated, not so much the taste that one would leave at the end (which is not the final typical American smile precisely), but by the great flood of emotions so different and so human that we feel from our armchair. Special thanks to Adriana Barraza for showing the maternal love of every woman. Thanks to Koji Yakusho also for showing us how wrong we are to find love only in the physical. And especially, thanks to Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and Arriaga to discover new Guilliermo a story so well told, well acted, so intimate and so democratic.
